Verses Mode is here! Once per day, you can challenge your friends and followers to beat your score and complete the second half of your bear photo! The more people you beat, the better your reward.
You can share your challenge through any medium - SMS, email, Facebook, Twitter, and more! And you can accept an unlimited number of challenges by other players every day - the more challenges that you accept and beat, the more rewards you will win! Verses Mode has its own special bears that you can collect and level up. They don't influence score nearly as much as Campaign Mode bears, so when you beat other players, you can be sure it's due to your excellent vocabulary and potent puzzle strategy.;-). 01.12.00 Nov 24, 2015. New in 1.11.00: - Alphabear now has a limited offline mode! This ended up taking a lot more effort than we expected, so we shipped the most basic thing we could as quickly as possible, and will hopefully enhance it in the future.:-) - Improved performance if you have lots of bears.
No longer requires Game Center to log in before the main menu, so loads faster for some iOS9 players As always, thank you so much for playing! If you have any issues, please email [email protected]. If you are signed into your Game Center account in Alphabear, and if you have iCloud enabled in iOS, your progress in Alphabear can now automatically be saved to iCloud and if you wish it can automatically be synced between multiple iOS devices as well (you will need to be signed into the same Game Center account on both devices for this to work.) If you do not have iCloud enabled, but want to take advantage of this new feature, please go to your iOS settings app, look for iCloud, then enable 'iCloud Drive' and also enable 'Alphabear' which appears below iCloud Drive. More information on this feature can be found here: - This update also contains 10 new bears that will be unveiled as part of the new Chapter 10 later this Thursday!:-) They are all video game-themed.
We hope you love them! New in 1.09.01: - Switch to daily coin bonus - Option to adopt more bears at the end of a treasure event for a slightly reduced coin cost - Improved performance on low end devices - UI improvements to help reduce confusion about locked events, boss events, etc As always, thank you so much for playing! If you have any issues, please email [email protected]. New in version 1.9.1: - Fixed a problem with daily event high scores not recording properly - Frozen tiles no longer count down the turn after they've been thawed, so it won't feel pointless to thaw tiles with 1 turn left on them!
- You can now pay 385 coins to get an additional bear from treasure events, rather than pay 400 coins and play again - Various minor bugfixes and improvements As always, thank you so much for playing! If you have any issues, please email [email protected]. New in this update: - Frozen tiles are a new board obstacle that has been introduced to some of the events in Chapter 7. They must be thawed before they can be used! - A rather over-the-top new animation when you win a legendary bear.
Lots of optimizations! Less memory usage, less stuttering during gameplay, and maybe fewer incidences of devices becoming physically hot. We know we still have more work to do on this front but hopefully this helps. Balance changes to chapters 6 and onwards.
As always, thank you so much for playing! If you have any issues, please email [email protected]. So much good stuff in this update! Here are the biggest changes: - We've done a major rebalance of the game. Difficulty increases per chapter should feel more even and rewards should feel more consistent. Bear naptimes are MUCH shorter.
A couple dozen cute new bears spread across the chapters, to increase the variety of rewards (and because, well, why NOT add a bunch more cute bears?) - Bear selection screen has been revamped to make it easier to browse your collection and select/unselect bears (pro-tip: you can now double tap a bear to select it quickly.) - New 'challenge missions' in each chapter, which are extra-hard, but always give rare rewards if you earn a gold egg! As always, thank you so much for playing! We're so grateful for all our players.:-) If you have any issues, please email [email protected] and we'll do our best to take care of you. 01.03.00 Jul 24, 2015. (Apologies: news for the NEXT update appeared erroneously for this update! Correct update news now appearing below!) - Various bugfixes and improvements - News button fixed so that the news doesn't just disappear when you click on it - Increased variety in events - More bear speech templates! In the NEXT update, which we've already started the process of submitting to Apple, you will be able to navigate back to previous chapters.
Apologies to anyone who got excited that it was in this release; unfortunately, we can't submit new updates until our previous ones have been approved, and each approval takes 5 to 10 days on average! If you have any issues, let us know at [email protected]. And thank you so much for playing Alphabear, we. (New for some of you who were stuck on older versions) New chapter and boss system, which gives the game a much more tangible sense of progression - Balance of levels / bears has been adjusted significantly - Now possible to earn coins by watching an ad - Hints show up more often - Fixed bug that was causing save files to sometimes get corrupted on phone shutdown - Fixed bug with notifications - Better selection screen layout on larger iPads Thank you for playing!:-) If you have any issues, please contact [email protected]. Ilovechrisbrownnn, Love the game - in-app purchases not so much. I love this game because I love any sort of word/anagram style game.
The bears are adorable and it's fun collecting them. But the coin/time ratio is so low that it takes around 1:30 hr to be able to play again. I don't want to play once every 2 hrs without spending money! Edit: ok so I received a nice response from skyfox so I thought I'd do a little update. I wrote 'coin/time ratio' because I rushed this review and most games do coins but it is a honey/time ratio. And I know you can buy the infinite honey and buy all sorts of in-app purchases but I'm just not about that life which I understand is all on me and not the developer.
That said though, a lot of other games have more reasonable in-app purchases so that's what I was trying to convey (sloppily might I add). Edit 2: so many edits to my review in so little time. So I changed my rating from 4 to 5 because I found out you can watch ads to get more honey and coins! Well actually I knew about it but it doesn't work on the iPad (app crashes instead - which I played it on first before I got it on my iPhone) so I initially didn't try using it with my phone. But I tried it last night and was pleasantly surprised that it worked so now I'm happy I get to play more often! Developer Response, To clarify, this game has an energy mechanic (honey). Players regain 1 honey every 90 seconds whenever their honey is below 120.
That's 960 honey per day if you play at optimal efficiency. Most events cost 50 or 70 honey, which comes out to quite a few games per day, but only 1-2 at a time. There is an Infinite Honey feature for purchase for folks who want to be free of the energy mechanic, but many folks choose to play without purchasing it and that's okay too. MILibrarian, My Favorite Word Game I’ve been playing alpha bear for quite a while now, and it’s the only game that has held my interest for this long.
I find myself going back to it and can play for over an hour without getting bored. It’s very clever, and the combination of untimed and timed boards makes it endlessly interesting. The way that the boards have different combinations of letters that expire at different times depending on the board keeps it challenging. It’s also one of the few games where you can go back to an earlier level without any diminishing of enjoyment of the game. I’m now at a level where it’s difficult to move up, but it’s not as frustrating as some games where I reach a certain level and then quit because it’s impossible to move up any further.
Sometimes it’s just fun to go backwards and use some of those low-level bears. I don’t pay too much attention to the coins and the honey. I do occasionally watch the videos to get more coins, but I think the game is just as much fun without worrying about the in app purchases.
The fact that you can get a blue reward and still advance, even if you don’t completely conquer the board with a gold egg, is a smart choice by the developers. This gives the player satisfaction even if they haven’t completely “won” the board. Good word games have their own built in satisfaction factor.
Bravo, and keep up the improvements! MILibrarian, My Favorite Word Game I’ve been playing alpha bear for quite a while now, and it’s the only game that has held my interest for this long. Remember, the fun word game from a few years ago? The app was bought by new and started receiving updates again earlier this year, and today Letterpress is finally. The mechanics of the game remain the same, but there have been some other improvements to the competitive word game recently too.
Also happening in the Mac space, Microsoft its plans for supporting Skype on legacy versions of OS X today which sees some older versions of Mac OS X dropped going forward First back to Letterpress. The Mac version of the word game is available for free through the Mac App Store, and gameplay is just like you find on iPhone and iPad. You have a board of letters to work with, an opponent with the same board, and you both compete round by round to create words out of the available letters. The competitive angle kicks in as one player and red while the other is blue, and using letters lets you own them until the other player takes them back. Strategically, cornering letters darkens them and while they can still be used, the other player doesn’t get to own them.
Now that Letterpress is cross-platform and doesn’t use Game Center as a backend, you will want to keep something in mind if you want to secure your usual username. The game has an option to save your username which requires verifying your email address. Other than that, Letterpress is the same addictive word game as what debuted in 2012. The Mac version looks a lot like an iPhone app running in a window, not even an iPad app, but gameplay totally works including alerts that notify you when it’s your turn. Find Letterpress for OS X/macOS for; OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion or later is required. Speaking of older versions of OS X, Microsoft announced today that it will be dropping support for some legacy versions of OS X from going forward.
While the current version of Skype requires OS X 10.9 Mavericks or later, Skype also provides an older version that works with OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard. Skype highlighted that it will continue to support OS X 10.10 Yosemite going forward as macOS 10.12 Sierra is the latest version in the wild, but legacy support for OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard will end in October.
Microsoft instead points users on legacy versions of OS X to try as an alternative after that period. Support remains unchanged with the latest features requiring iOS 8 or later for now and basic functions likely working on older versions without guarantees.
